The second part of the paper delves into the concept of teachers' interactional competence. Various models are presented to showcase the diverse possibilities for characterizing this competence. Drawing on data from multiple studies, the paper elucidates how teachers manifest their interactional competence through specific actions. The paper also sheds light on the challenges teachers face in enhancing their professional skills. Notably, teachers require a broad range of interactional strategies to navigate different instructional contexts and phases of instruction effectively.
