Description
Summary:Cooperative active language use in language learning counselling is a basis for pursuing jointly set goals for increasingly independent language learning. Active language use that ensures and supports comprehension are a key success factor for cooperation between the counsellor and the person seeking advice. Using a part of a corpus containing initial counselling sessions, the functionality of linguistic actions that ensure and support understanding for successful cooperation in language learning counselling sessions is identified by using conversation analysis. Being able to consciously and reflectively use communicative competences such as ensuring understanding and scaffolding in language learning counselling is an essential professional competence for prospective language learning consultants.
