الوصف
الملخص:(A)Synchronous written interaction via messenger services is still rarely the focus of GFL-related studies. This article focuses on a setting that allowed university GFL learners from Brazil and Jordan, as part of a virtual exchange project, to talk in WhatsApp tandems over a few weeks about topics relevant to their everyday lives, some of which they themselves determined. The article asks how GFL learners from two different regions of the world integrate their own lifeworlds into their interactions in WhatsApp tandems using topic changes/shifts and how this can create interactions between university GFL lessons and lifeworlds. For this purpose, interaction data resulting from the tandems as well as data resulting from a project evaluation in the form of an online survey are used. The interaction data is evaluated using qualitative conversation analysis.
